He was baptised on 12 Jan 1785 in Uplowman, Devon.(16) He appeared on the census in 1841 in Widhays, Uplowman, Devon.(117) He signed a will on 8 Oct 1844 in Widhays, Uplowman, Devon. (118) He died on 11 Oct 1844 in Uplowman, Devon. He was buried on 19 Oct 1844 in Uplowman Churchyard.(3) He Death Duty Reg. on 6 Jan 1847.(119) He owned in Uplowman & Halberton; Property: land called Parkwood, Kidwell, Mifood Hill. He owned in Uplowman & Halberton, Devon; Property: ?share in farms: Hill, Lower Beer, Cow White via wife.(120) He has reference number ChMNmWG84W1. Gravestone in churchyard give approx year of birth - note baptised with si ster Mary, but on the 12th not on 5th Jan. -see other baptisms of childre n. Aged 60yrs - also in burial register, Widhays, Uplowman. Other si de of stone records wife Ann CHAVE 19.10.1843 aged 53 yrs.

Property was left to his wife from her father Edward (d 1837) by his wil l. After her death to be passed to this William and thence to children. Re quest that land holding be kept in the family (which included the Squire f amily - inherited share in Hill and Cow White via two routes from origin al holding left by John CHAVE of Remberton House). William's will does n ot mention these properties specifically, perhaps because already cover ed by will of his father-in-law. legacies of £600 to each of the daughters Ann, Sarah & Francis Powell CHA VE to be received at age 21. Interest at 4.5% in meantime or to testato rs surviving children in default of issue. The interest to be paid half ye arly to his daughters after his death until they were 21 or married for th eir maintenance and clothing.

"...give devise and bequeath all... land called Kidwell, in parish ofUplow man Parkwood, in the parish of Halberton also the hold (sic) of la nd which I have lately purchased of the ?Mifood?
