He was buried on 5 Dec 1800 in Uplowman Churchyard. (3) He has reference number ChLMmWM43W1. This William previously identified as son of Samuel Chave and MaryQuartle y. Re-examination of the evidence no longer links William d.1742 (unc le and godfather of Samuel's son William) with Widhayes. Evidence to li nk William's father William (m. Mary Morish) with Kittesford in Somerset s tronger. Evidence of increase in wealth and position c.1795 links to a wi ll of a William Chave 1795 in that part of Somerset, including Willi am of Widhayes providing a mortgage for a property in Chard, Som.

Only William that fits (nearly) if baptised in Uplowman. William does n ot appear in the list of those buried outside the parish. I have assumed t hat the age in the burial register is wrong, after all it is one of the ve ry first occurances of age being recorded. 1800 William Chave Age 57 D ec 5
